Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your participation in the SMS (text messaging) communications of the University of California, San Diego (“UCSD,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) research program. By opting into our SMS campaign, you agree to these Terms.

2. Opting In & Participation
By providing your phone number and opting into SMS communications, you consent to receive research-related text messages from UCSD.
You confirm that you are the authorized user of the mobile phone number provided and that you are at least 18 years old (or have parental/guardian consent if under 18).
Participation is voluntary, and opting in is not required to participate in the research program.
3. Message Frequency & Content
You may receive daily messages related to study updates, reminders, and program-related information.
Message content may include:
Study participation reminders.
Updates on research progress.
Links to surveys or other study materials.
Voluntary feedback requests.
4. Opting Out & Support
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. After opting out, you will receive no further SMS messages from the research program.
If you need assistance, contact 720health@ucsd.edu.
Opting out of SMS does not affect your participation in the research study, and you may continue to receive email or other non-SMS communications if applicable.
5. Costs & Carrier Information
Message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier’s plan. UCSD is not responsible for any charges incurred from receiving or sending text messages.
We do not guarantee message delivery, as SMS services are subject to network limitations and mobile carrier availability.
6. Privacy & Data Protection
Your information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We will not sell, share, or use your phone number for marketing purposes.
UCSD and its research affiliates will take reasonable precautions to protect your data, but SMS messages are not encrypted, so do not share sensitive information via text.
7. Termination & Modification
UCSD reserves the right to modify or terminate this SMS program at any time without prior notice.
Changes to these Terms will be communicated via SMS, email, or other official UCSD channels.
Continued participation after modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
8. Disclaimer of Liability
UCSD is not responsible for:
Delayed, misdirected, or undelivered text messages.
Service disruptions, technical failures, or mobile network errors.
Any loss or damage resulting from participation in the SMS program.
